Erdington and Saltley 1 – 2 Kings Norton
Saturday 20th October 2012 @ Braemar Road
First Half
Our manager said before the game not to start sluggishly and we did just that. Kings Norton were on the attack straight away but Alex kept them at bay. We were struggling to come out of our own half. We were panicking. We only had one sub so the majority of us had to last the whole game. Kings Norton had attack after attack after attack but still they didn’t score. After that Trey kept their midfield quiet and we had the possession and were on the attack. We finally woke up! Bailey took the ball past the defender and shot. The keeper palmed it out for a corner. Trey floated it in and Josh knocked it down to Sahib and Sahib hit an unstoppable bullet in the bottom right corner. We were winning 1-0 against the run of play. The ref blew his whistle for half time. We all knew Kings Norton were going to come back stronger.
Second Half
They had the first attack in the second half but Alex tipped the ball over the bar. They had three corners in a row and we somehow dealt with them. Then Zane came on for Cedric and caused them all sorts of problems.
Ellis Jay scampered down the right wing and put in a great low ball in the box but nobody could get on the end of it. Then we started to play like we were losing. There was five minutes left on the clock and we were holding on desperately. Their right winger put a fantastic ball in the box and his teammate slotted it into the bottom left corner. This was the wake up call we had needed all morning.
We gave it our all. But in the last two minutes they caught us on the break down the left wing and drove the ball in the box and Alex couldn’t hold onto it and they scored, 2 – 1 to Kings Norton. In the dying seconds Ethan won a freekick. Trey crossed it in, Sam flicked it on and Sahib had a shot but they cleared it away. The ref blew his whistle for full time.
Heartbreak. Again.
