Match Report:

On a freezing cold morning The Ton lads arrived determined to build on their great start to the season and with a bit of luck, do the double. The reigning Birmingham 6 a side champs couldn’t wait to get started, especially with Jovan added to the squad for the first time this season. However football is a funny old game and 7 a side football is even stranger! With the games over almost before they have started and the pitches small  and cramped, results are hard to predict and luck plays a part in the final outcome.

First up were the talented Kings Norton and despite creating a handful of chances, The Ton just couldn’t find their way through the Norton defence. However, a clean sheet in the opening group match is never a bad start. Next up was South Birmingham and after taking the lead via a clinical Jovan finish, we conceded a sloppy goal and had to settle for a draw. That meant we really needed to pick three points up against Solihull but the exceptionally talented Kain made sure that this never happened. Going into the final group game, The Ton were still in with a chance of making the semi final. A win for us and a defeat for South would have  ensured our place in the last four. Nevertheless, despite turning on the style against our Braemar neighbours, Solihull couldn’t help us out by beating South. If we played all morning with the style and swagger that we showed against Sutton (with goals from Amari and Ramello) then it could have all been a different story.

At the end of the day we’re all kids (me included!) and kids are allowed to have off days. We are still a ridiculously talented team and we’ve got so much more to play for during the season. I am excited and couldn’t be prouder of you lads. Roll of next week and a chance to put the record straight.

Well done boys and enjoy your week.
