With no league game to usher in the half-term holidays, we decided to stage an in-house friendly for the Gold team and some members of the Black team. What a great decision this was!

From start to finish, the boys were excellent and put on a show for those in attendance! Determined to attack in numbers, both teams showed that the best form of defence is attack as they peppered each other’s goal continuously.

With a debut in the form of Elija, a birthday for Kyran and a pair of hat-ricks for the birthday boy and the Spanish sharp shooter Gonzalo – the game had everything!

Gonzalo made it five goals in his opening three games, adding a hat-trick to the goals scored against East Birmingham and Gloucester. Having already proven himself to be skilled in the art of bringing his teammates into play, Gonzalo demonstrated his excellence in the air with two bullet headers from a pair of corners.

Not to be outdone, Kyran used his blistering pace to match Gonzalo’s trio of goals, scoring a hat-trick of finishes having broken free from the B team defence each time.

The whole match was played in a brilliant spirit, something echoed by the referee who went on record to say how much he enjoyed officiating the battle.

Overall it was a fantastic morning of football and a great advert for the talent in Erdington and Saltley’s 48 primary schools!

Well done boys!

Up The Ton!
