Girls’ Player Lois Picked for County Development Squad!

On Thursday 28th January Lois (The Abbey) attended trials for the Birmingham County FA Player Development Centre, before receiving news yesterday that she had been successful! What a star! Everyone connected to the district and her school are incredibly proud of her! Well done you star!

Here is some more information about the Birmingham County FA Player Development Centre:

Birmingham FA continues to support The FA’s Girls’ England Talent Pathway, which aims to identify, develop, and progress female players with the potential to play for the England Women’s Senior teams.

There is now a clear pathway in place that caters for the needs of the player, with each stage specifically designed to ensure appropriate progressive opportunities are in place.

A PDC is a County FA run centre designed to complement grassroots football by providing selected players with an additional nights training with specialist coaches once a week. The purpose of the PDC is to bridge the gap between grassroots and Centre of Excellence football and support players to embark on the Talent Pathway.

Entry to the programme is via trials after which successful players can expect to receive specialist weekly coaching and support, and is ideal for talented players looking to progress or for those that are not quite ready for Centre of Excellence football. In addition, players will attend fixtures against other FA Licensed Development Centres in the Midlands.
