At the start of the season I went cap in hand to a man I’d never met. I told him we needed some new kit but that we were short of money. That man was Aston Villa legend and former England International Darius Vassell.
It would have been easy for the former Yenton pupil to have simply ignored my email. However he didn’t.
Ever since then he has supported us on and off the pitch and it was with great pride that we were able to welcome him to Saturday’s final as our guest of honour.
As he has done all season, Darius proved an inspiration to the lads!
