After losing the final of this competition in 2015, we were hoping to go one better by lifting the title for the first time in our history. However our quest for the title ended in penalty heartache as we fell at the semi-final stage following a mammoth penalty shootout against Aston.

Despite the agony of our exit, the lads should be incredibly proud of their efforts throughout the morning. There were so many positives to take back to Brum from Wolverhampton.

  • The manner in which the lads bounced back after a below par performance against South Birmingham.
  • The leadership shown by several of the lads all morning
  • The way that the three under 10s stepped up and made an impression on the u11s tournament
  • The beauty of a number of our goals

The title might not have come back to Brum with us this time but it was ever so close!

With 30 seconds left on the clock, the lads were leading Aston 1-0 and had one foot in the final of this prestigious tournament. Then just as the ref was considering blowing his whistle, Aston earned a corner and the rest as they say is history.

After nine players from each team had taken a penalty, it was our friends from Aston who battled it out with South Birmingham in the final.

The lads were understandably disappointing following this cruel blow but we will certainly learn from it and most definitely bounce back!

Well done lads!

Up The Ton!
