On Saturday 10th December 2016, the under 11s fought back to earn a great victory over Walsall FC, coming from 3-1 down to win 4-3. Once again The Ton came from behind to beat their professional opponents, although this time it was from one goal behind.

After conceded a goal after only two minutes, the lads regrouped to show their mouthwatering talent and run out comfortable winners. From start to finish they worked their socks off and played as a team. This is not always easy in a team containing so many talented individuals, although these boys are a real team and put the glory of the team ahead of any personal glory.

At the back, Gerard marshalled his younger teammates in a manner that we have all become accustomed to. The Abbey shot stopper has grown this season in terms of his communication skills and this was just another example of that. In front of him, James and Toby (and then Jaiy) were composed throughout the first two thirds and shut Walsall out throughout the cold December evening.

Going forward, Resharne, Reece and Jaiy linked up superbly, with all three often switching positions and making it really hard for the Walsall lads to mark them.

Up front, Alfie chased lost causes and worked the channels really well. His hard work and endeavour resulted in a number of quality goals. Later in the game, Jeval slotted in up front to offer us a different dimension and his pace and energy troubled the opposition defence.

If this was a preview of next season, we should all be very excited!

Well done boys!

Up The Ton!
